You could patent this dual/switch replacement for the "close gate" button, and probably sell a lot. Maybe someone in the parts department would take pity on you and reward your enginuity. ![]() You might be able to do all of this without any wire cutting. If I remember correctly, the BCM looks for a discontinuity in voltage when the gate is closed, so the new "Tent/Normal" switch would be put in series with the existing switch in the lock assembly to interrupt current flow. Then the fabrication of a mounting that used the same dimensions of that push-button and held both a new and smaller momentary pushbutton (to use as a replacement for the existing one to close the gate) and a new low profile "rocker switch" with one position "tent" and the other "normal". The solution would most likely involve a hack involving the removal of the pre-existing "close gate" push-button on the gate. You would also want to wrap your FOB in a piece of aluminum foil, or use a "faraday bag" (look on Amazon) that prevented the FOB from talking to the vehicle and keeping the "ready to unlock the doors" function active. Why they didn't provide a "Tent" mode switch when they practically advertise the OB and its versatility in camping with these tents, I have no idea. I postulated in another post that someone could wire another switch with the switch that is part of the lock mechanism so that when camping one could just throw the switch and fool the BCM into thinking that the gate was closed and allowing it to go into a low power consumption mode. Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to read and respond to my length post! Should I just sell the tent she got me and by a regular tent? #199yukon rear hatch light switch wont keep light off how to#Has anyone done anything like this before, and do they have any recommendations about how to do so? 4. Am I correct in assuming that if I can turn this light off, I would be good to leave the hatch open for an extended period of time without risk of killing the battery? 3. Does anybody know how to turn this light off on a gen5? 2. My buddy has a CRV a few years older than mine, and he can open the hatch and leave it like that for days if he wanted without issue. However, I still wouldn't want to be using any battery. Now, its clear that my stock battery is not the greatest, and replacing it with a better one is in general an advisable thing to do. #199yukon rear hatch light switch wont keep light off full#He suggested maybe wiring in a terminal shut off that completely shut off the battery, like a full on kill switch. I asked the service department at the dealer, and they didn't know of a way to turn that light off. #199yukon rear hatch light switch wont keep light off manual#I can't figure out how to turn it off, and there's nothing in my manual about it. ![]() Well, obviously I want to avoid the car dying.Īs far as I can tell, there is a light on the dashboard when the hatch is open, and that's the only thing the battery is powering. ![]() As you might imagine, we want to go camping and she is eager for us to use the tent she bought me. Since then, my girlfriend bought me one of those tents that is a tent, and then connects to the back of your car, so you can have the tent and inside of your car as space when the hatch is left open. Battery died, jumped it, etc, and didn't think much of it for a while. I didn't notice that there was a dashboard light left on. #199yukon rear hatch light switch wont keep light off cracked#I've slept in the back with the seats down a couple times, and the last time I did, I cracked the hatch because it was hot. I'd like to be able to leave my hatch open without draining the battery. ![]() I did a little research first, and didn't quite find what I was looking for. I'm new to this community This is my first post. ![]()
